DIY PIÑTA PHOTO PROP
Happy first birthday to my Lucy girl! I decided spur the moment to set up a first birthday shoot for her while my sister-in-law was in town and this set-up was so easy that I had it ready within a few hours of deciding to do the shoot!
Here are the supplies I gathered:
Tissue Paper (about four packs)
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun
Cupcakes, cake stand and birthday headband are optional :)
The nice thing about a fringe piñata look is that you really can’t mess it up too much! It’s forgiving and you can make it whatever you want! I started cutting cutting my tissue paper into pieces that were probably around 6 inches long and then folding hotdog style and cutting fringe strips opposite of the fold. (Look at the picture and it’ll make more sense!)
Once I had a variety of colors fringed I started hot glueing the folded tops onto my poster board and covering up all of the white spots by layering different pieces in. This was the fun part as you got to see all your cutting turning into something cute fairly quick. You could do different designs and patterns if you wanted to be fancy but I was working against Lucy’s nap-time schedule and just wanted to get all my fun colors up.
After I had all my pieces up we set up the poster board on a white sheet, added a cake-stand, cupcake, banner, birthday balloons and a cute birthday girl and ta-da! My DIY photo prop was complete!
