Thanksgiving Tablescape

Happy Thanksgiving! I designed this tablescape by using things I already had on hand and staying in my signature soft palette. What I love about this is that anyone can do it or at least pull pieces and inspiration from it without breaking the bank!

Here’s what I did:

BASE LAYER: I started with Kraft paper because DUH! I love Kraft paper for a base layer. Next, I added a faux eucalyptus garland (and filled in some bare sections with a few real strands). After the garland I added some soft fairytale pumpkins that I had saved from Halloween but if you don’t have these I think adding in wine bottles, candlesticks, anything to add height and dimension while staying in your palette would look perfect!

GRAPEFRUIT GARLAND: I love the look of a citrus garland around the holidays so I decided to add in some pinkish orange and do a grapefruit one! Wash your citrus with a fruit and veggie scrub, preheat the oven to 200 degrees and start thinly slicing your fruit. Next, try and pat your slices with paper towels to absorb excess moisture. Place a cooling rack on top of a baking sheet and lay your slices on top (see pictures below). Bake for about 3-4 hours flipping your slices every 30 min/hour. Be patient with this part!! Once nice and dry, poke two holes in each slice and weave a piece of twine or decorative string through your slices until you have your garland complete! I placed my garland on the eucalyptus garland.

TABLE SETTINGS: I kept these super simple! Straw place mats, one plate on top, a yellow napkin from World Market tied with raffia ribbon! And then i cut a few pieces of a berry strand from my Trader Joe’s seasonal filler and I added a piece to each napkin.

EASY AS FLORAL PIE: My table design that I photographed was a trial run so I didn’t have a Thanksgiving spread but I did have a store-bought pie! Once I added some fresh flowers, greenery and a pretty cake stand it was ready to be the star of the show! I love adding fresh flowers to baked goods - is there really a better combination?!

Ta-da! Enjoy more photos below. Happy Thanksgiving! This year I’m thankful for YOU and the fact that you read my whole post! :)
